Day one

Lunch was a plate of mixed leaves, tomatoes and grated carrot with a very low fat balsamic dressing I brought with me. I guess I may be one of the few passengers to lose weight at the end of a cruise!

After a slow start, we crammed 22 people around the tables and all but one had brought their own painting gear with them. They painted a sea view from a Madeira Hill and it was well accepted and everyone did their own take on the work.

Near the end of the session. Some had already left as we clashed with a popular speaker.
Everyone was already in Madeira, at least in their thoughts.

Settled in

It was just a short wait to get onboard today. We’ve already made friends with a couple, the lady who is a guest speaker and her hubby. Mike met with an old cruiser we met a few years ago and there’s a few other familiar faces, including Liverpudlian Liam one of the hosts who we’ve met several times.

Our stewardess is called Bam and I have to stop myself saying wham bam, thank you Ma’am!

The cabin is lovely and very spacious First class tomorrow afternoon and I’ve been given the extra hour I asked for, it should be relaxing.

Soaking in Southampton

The flight was a bit bumpy on the way up but then settled nicely with a great landing. Only 36 passengers on the flight!

It wet and windy and Mike sprung a leak in his shoes, so they’re now in the bin. we had a good wander round West Quays which is a fabulous shopping centre but didn’t buy anything of interest.

Joining Black Watch late morning. Looking forward to getting onboard and unpacking.
